Open Mic Night
Open mics are few and far between in this city of indie gigs and comedy routines. But then, is Dublin not a UNESCO City of Literature? Surely there must be some starving poet reciting verses concocted from pure air and Irish banter in a dank cellar beneath a pub somewhere? Surely there will be some unsigned poets and writers at The Floor Show, a new and regular open mic in the one Georgian building dedicated to scribblers nationwide, the Irish Writers Centre. Free in, open for submissions in prose and verse (they even let you sing), and I'm sure they'll sneak in some red wine or a couple of stouts, this being the city of the Ginger Man. / Marcel Kreuger
