Sci-Lens – Yurodny Ensemble
The scale tip of art in science and science in art is what's up for exploration in this presentation by the UCD Imagine Science Film Festival and Darklight. More substance and less particle, tonight sees composer Dan Trueman who has worked with the Crash Ensemble perform along aside the Laptop Orchestra and the ravishing Yurodny Ensemble. As one should expect there will be the exploration of sound in space but also an examination of transferring traditional music into a contemporary language. Yurodny, who take their name from the memoirs of Shostakovich, have long held a fascination with Eastern sounds. As always, it's the dancing about architecture syndrome when it comes to the dense conceptual language surrounding an endeavour like this but the pedigree of all concerned should reassure us of the quality of the fusion.
